Tomas is being bullied by group of students and can't seem to find a way to stand up to them. Coupled with this, his anger over the loss of his father and brother turns him into a loner, finding solace in creating skillful but disturbing animations. His concerned grandfather brings him on a weekend trip to a mountain cabin. Away from the distractions of city life Tomas is able to hear the message of faith and strength in a story his grandfather tells him about the young Karol Vojtila leading his flock in standing up to the Communist regime. Tomas returns home with a new outlook on life and on the importance of standing up for his values. He is now able to to face down the bully and to add light and hope to his art work.
