Plot:

Warning of new danger to peace hits the Earth Defence Force when a Star Fleet Cruiser from Pluto Base is destroyed by an unidentified alien warship. Is it the start of an invasion by an unknown power? The threat comes in the year 2999, soon after Space War III has ended. The Solar System, led by Planet Earth, is rebuilding the damage suffered during that war. General Kyle, controller of the Earth Defence Force, takes action immediately. The X-Bomber, the Star Fleet's ultimate spaceship, is in the final stages of building and its Captain, Doctor Benn, is ordered to activate it immediately. Before space trials can begin, further attacks are launched. Although their identities are unknown at the time, those responsible are the Imperial Alliance, with the mystery alien warship captained by the unscrupulous Commander Makara. Imperial Alliance fighters are ordered to attack Pluto Base and capture Star Fleet's Captain Carter. They then turn their fleet's weapons directly on Earth itself. The X-Bomber is immediately launched to defend the planet. A monumental mid-space battle takes place, and the X-Bomber is hit.
